Today I am talking about my favorite part of yoga, THE PANTS ;) okay just kidding, but oh how I do love me some yoga pants!! I have had so many yoga pants in my life, it’s actually a slight problem. While I am sure there are many amazing $100 yoga pant out there, I just cant do it! But, I have also had so many 'cheap' yoga pant “fails,” that I have made it my mission to hunt down the best affordable yoga pants.
So, fun fact, I used to work at Lululemon and during that time, was able to acquire many pairs of the best of the best in the name of yoga pants. But yes, even my Lulu’s stretch out and wear out over time, and without a steep employee discount, ummmm again, there is no way I am spending $100 on a pair of yoga pants!! But I need all the cute new colors and patterns in my life (yep, it’s a problem).
Okay so since my Lululemon days are over, I have purchased (slash wasted so much money) on cheap yoga pants at Marshall’s and TJMaxx. I inevitably end up hating them after just one yoga class or one time through the wash. Many of them are NOT squat proof (not safe to down dog in!), or they give you the dreaded camel toe (not cute), or they slowly slide down and down until you have a major sag in the crotch (distracting), or they painfully dig in at the waistband (not comfortable and a one way ticket to muffin-top city).
On a mission, I now think I have ordered every single pair of popular, affordable yoga pants on Amazon to test them out. And let me tell you, I have found some real winners! All of the pants I now invest in have to meet a few criteria, the number one thing for me is a seamless waistband!! Meaning there is no seem around the top of your waist band, meaning ultimate comfort and no muffin top, yay! I also need my yoga pants to be high-waisted, squat proof, and under $30. Yes, I know that is a lot to ask, but I have found these yoga pants that meet ALL of that criteria!!
The first brand of yoga pants I found on Amazon that I fell in love with is CRZYoga.
These 'CRZ YOGA Women's Naked Feeling I 7/8 High Waisted PantsYoga Workout Leggings - 25 Inches'. These are my ultimate go to summer yoga pants. They have a more silky, shiny look and feel to them. They are soft and lightweight and feel comfortable on hotter days, even in black. They are extremely stretchy and do not have much compression to them. They are about $24.00 and come in many colors. I also just recently found these CRZ YOGA Women Matte Brushed Light Fleece LeggingsAthletic High Waisted Squat Proof Yoga Pants -25 Inches Yoga pants by CRZ Yoga that are thicker and have a very thin fleece lining to them. I am so excited about these for cooler weather hiking and wintertime yoga. These are still stretchy, but being a little thicker and more like fleece, they have more compression to them and slightly less stretch. They are about $26.00 and come in 6 different colors (I need more!). I have them in Propylene Blue shown here:
My next discovery was these Women's High Waisted Leggings 7/8 LengthYoga Pants by Colorfulkoala. While I had heard other yogis talk about this brand for years, I was skeptical. But, I finally decided to try them, and oh boy, they are awesome. I first tried these ones in black for about $27.00 and they are extremely similar to the summery CRZ Yoga pants above. They are almost silky, and shiny and very stretchy. They have a nice high waist with some compression to it so it stays in place through a whole yoga class, a major plus!
BecauseI loved the brand so much, I decided to try their “buttery soft” version of the pants. Somehow, I think I love this version of the pants even more. They just feel so soft, almost like a brushed cotton - not as close to a spandex look or feel. They feel slightly thicker and with a little more compression, so even in the lighter colors, I feel like you can’t see all the lumps and bumps quite as much in these. And super bonus, these come in a little more affordable at about $22.00. I have them in Midnight navy and DustyRed, shown here:

Then we have these Ultra Soft High Waisted Seamless Leggings Tummy Control Yoga Pants by Yunoga. I have never heard anyone talk about these before, but I loved the specs on Amazon, so I went ahead and gave them a try. Holy Moly, these might be my new faves! I don’t even know how to describe the feel, they are kind of a mixture of the super soft, stretchy, buttery-feel yoga pants but have quite a bit of compression and depth to them. they are somewhere smack in the middle of brushed cotton and silky soft. I feel like I could wear these and be comfortable in the summer and winter. They were about $26.00 and I recently saw that they added a bunch of new colors and patterns (oh boy….) I have them in bright blue and black shown here:

Okay, I just said the Yunoga’s were my new faves, but that was before I tried these Hawthorn Athletic 7/8 Length Women's Essential High Waist Yoga Pants Slimming Active Ankle Legging 25''! (ha, this is like picking a favorite child, I just can’t decide!) I bought these because I thought they were so fun! I saw Athleta had a super fun leopard print yoga pants like these and I really really wanted them, but again, the $100 price tag just doesn’t do it for me. I saw these on amazon, plus they happened to meet all my other criteria and the reviews made them sound extra promising. I am just not sure how often I will wear leopard print pants, so the $30.00 price tag seemed more reasonable. Since trying these on, I know that I need more “everyday” colors in these. They honestly feel like I am wearing $100 yoga pants. They feel so soft and comfortable with just the right amount of compression. I also highly appreciate that the pattern of the pants stays in tact when I put the pants on (have you ever had patterned yoga pants that stretch out and then show white shining through when you put them on??) I just may wear leopard print pants way more than I ever thought I would!
